NJ-20001

Phoenix Firebirds

Unit Designation:

The unit designation for the William L. Dickinson High School AFJROTC is NJ-20001.

This means that our program was the first (1) unit in New Jersey (NJ) to be established in 2000.

The unit's mascot is the Phoenix Firebird which represents rebirth, resilience, and transformation—rising from ashes stronger than before.

In mythology, the Phoenix is symbolic of overcoming adversity and being renewed through trials.
For this program, it embodies:

  • Perseverance through challenges (both personal and collective),

  • Commitment to growth and excellence

  • Pride in heritage while constantly evolving.

It’s a powerful symbol for leadership, renewal, and pushing forward with strength, no matter the setbacks.
